Host to thousands of businesses of all types and sizes, for centuries, Downtown Boston has powered our regional economy. The advantages of locating—or starting—a business within the Downtown Boston Alliance (DBA) district are innumerable.
Located at the convergence of the MBTA system, with South Station adjacent, the DBA provides an incredible range of transit options. Boston City Hall and the State House are both steps away, a key consideration for nonprofit advocacy groups. For business travelers, our neighborhood’s lodgings range from boutique establishments to large hotels hosting numerous conference rooms. And our district’s numerous office properties span the spectrum, from giant Class A “trophy towers” to beautifully restored Victorian-era mercantile gems.
For tech firms, Kendall Square is just minutes up the Red Line; for life-sciences companies, the Longwood medical complex is equally convenient. Several tech accelerators incubate start-ups within our district. And Boston’s great research universities are also all clustered nearby.
Finally, our neighborhood’s attractions and amenities are robust and world-renowned. Our museum offerings, bisected by Boston’s legendary Freedom Trail, run the gamut from historic shrines to contemporary galleries and interactive exhibits. Our five theaters host a wide variety of theatrical productions. Retail options include New England’s largest jewelry retail center along with a diverse complement of anchor department stores. And our dining scene encompasses food halls, elegant nightspots, trendy gastropubs, and dozens of fast-casual options.
