This holiday season, now through January 2, twelve giant animal-themed nutcrackers light up Downtown Boston!


These 16-foot tall, illuminated figures surprise and delight, both day and night. Embrace the season with this free, walkable experience as you complete your holiday shopping. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy these extraordinary nutcrackers and Downtown Boston’s shops, eateries, and attractions along the way.  

Visitors in November and December will also see Downtown’s traditional illuminated star lights spanning the main thoroughfares, hundreds of lighted trees, festive wreaths, and winter-themed plants and landscaping along the streets. Plus, enjoy a series of festive events — more information below!

ADDITIONAL HOLIDAY KINGDOM EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING:

Saturday, November 30, 12-1:30 pm: Boston Tuba Christmas. welcomes a brass group of more than 100 players from around the region to play holiday classics at The Steps at Downtown Crossing (Washington and Franklin Streets). Players perform on various instruments in the tuba family, from euphonias to sousaphones, decked out in festive costumes and holiday attire. Don’t miss out on this free family-friendly event! Note, there is a rain date of Sunday, December 1. 

Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays from November 29 through December 22: The Downtown Boston Holiday Market opens at Summer Street Plaza (Summer St. @ Washington St.) each week from 11 am to 4 pm, where local artisans and independent retailers offer unique gifts for the public as they embark on their holiday shopping.

Saturday, November 30 through December 22 on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-2 pm and 3-4 pm: Santa returns to the Summer Street Plaza! Free for all to enjoy, we invite you with friends and family to share your holiday wishes with Santa!
