Nestled beneath Downtown’s soaring pinnacles–including historic Park Street Congregational Church–this leafy respite is the final resting spot for an extraordinary number of Revolutionary-era icons, including John Adams, Sam Adams, John Hancock, James Otis, Paul Revere, and Robert Treat Paine. In 2016, the City of Boston, supported by a grant from the Freedom Trail Foundation’s Preservation Fund, won the Massachusetts Historical Commission’s 38th annual award for its preservation of the legendary cemetery.
