Visit us at 3rd Space -- Downtown Boston's destination space for downtown visitors, workers, students, shoppers, and residents looking for an inviting community space with cultural exhibitions, live performances, places to meet, and free public amenities. Stop in, have lunch, stay a while, and discover!

 3rd Space currently features two free art exhibitions, “Soft City” and “ISUs,” which reflect the Downtown Boston BID’s intention to provide exposure and economic opportunities for creatives, as well as a platform for exciting new voices in community conversations that challenge the status quo.

Art

The group just practice, founded by Amanda Ugorji and Sophie Weston Chien, have installed its large-scale textile series “Soft City,” which recounts Boston’s systemic history of racist redlining and its past, present, and future impact on Black residents in Greater Boston.

 

 

The studio VERS Collab, founded by Chelsea Jno Baptiste, Sahil Mohan, and Savannah Cheung, brings “ISUs” (short for ‘integrated sheltering units’) – an interactive, socio-political artwork that comments on concepts of shelter, housing equity, and ‘“hostile architecture.’”

We welcome artists, musicians, and community groups who are interested in applying for complimentary use the 3rd Space venue (which can accommodate up to 200). We will co-market your program(s) and provide operational support to help create a turnkey space that will serve as a destination for single and multi-use programming.
