Kiernan Schmitt, author of SECRET BOSTON – AN UNUSUAL GUIDE and Clover’s Chief Marketing Officer, leads a walking tour in Downtown Boston.
We’ll start with lunch at CloverDTX on School Street at 1pm, then head out on the tour at 1:30. First stop is the Congregational Library (run by the modern-day heirs of the Pilgrims), where the archivist will show us special items from the collection, including Ben Franklin’s birth notice and a very special issue of Spiderman.
We’ll then head back into the streets to:
– Find a hidden alleyway paved with beautiful sculpted bricks that tell the story of Boston’s historical oddities
– Debate where Alexander Graham Bell actually invented the telephone (2 sites claim the distinction!)
– See the last vestige of the grand home of the British Royal Governors from back when MA was a colony
– Pet a mysterious Italian donkey
We’ll wrap up at CloverFIN, 160 Federal St, located inside a beautiful historic building with some secrets of its own. Everyone on the tour will get a hot drink, freshly baked cookies, and a copy of the book.
