Duckling Day is Boston’s beloved annual celebration of Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, held each Mother’s Day on Boston Common. Families are invited to join in a morning of fun beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Parkman Bandstand, with activity booths, lawn games, face painting, live music, a circus show by Jenny the Juggler, strolling magic from Bonaparté, dance performances, and more. Each child receives a Duckling Day-themed goody bag, and activities are included with family admission. There’s even a quiet tent for those who need a break, and of course, a visit from our lovable Duckling mascot!
The highlight of the day is the Duckling Day Parade, where children—many dressed as ducklings—march through the Common and Public Garden, retracing the iconic journey of Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings to the Make Way for Ducklings sculpture. This cherished tradition is held rain or shine, and registration for Duckling Day 2025 is now open!
